GENERAL INTRODUCTION
Welcome to my website! I hope you will find this information interesting and that there is something you would like to join too. I greatly enjoy running all these various groups and courses and have found my work very rewarding over the years, both with children, parents, teachers and the general public. If you have a new idea for a talk or course, please contact me and I might be able to help you.
Since 1990 I have been involved in Steiner Kindergarten education. Firstly as a Kindergarten teacher for twelve years, and now as an Early Years Specialist offering courses and workshops to help practising teachers, parents and carers of young children up to the age of seven years. I care deeply for families who are striving to create a way of life stongly connected to the natural world and who find todays preoccupation with testing and intellectual ambition too materialistic for their way of life. These meetings, talks and courses are my way of trying to support those individuals who are treading a different footpath to the main trends in C21st.
The following programmes are available to adults involved in either Steiner or mainstream education,as well as interested parents.

EDUCATION FOR A HAPPY CHILDHOOD - an introductory course to Steiner early years education

Picture

This course takes place in Bath and aims to bring Steiner early years education in a practical
and accessible format to adults interested in developing their own resources and understanding
of children. There are ten Saturday morning sessions, once a month starting mid-September.
Creativity, imagination and child development are joined together in a practical and enjoyable
way. Discussions in both small and large groups often provides a welcome exchange of ideas
and approaches to meeting the needs of different aged children.  Finding time for oneself and
reflecting on ones own family life and experiences, with its many demands and challenges can
be possible by creating a rhythm that works for you and your family. Many new crafts, seasonal
activities, songs, games and story-telling can be enjoyed by participants, bringing confidence and resourcefulness into their role with children.
" Education for a Happy Childhood" has been running since 1998 and has proved very popular with people of all ages, gender and proffesional occupation. Applicants are advised to apply well in advance of the starting date in September to secure a place.

TEACHERS FORUM - a two day workshop providing continued professional development

Picture
Areas of challenge and difficulty frequently occur which the teacher does not find
time to air, or manage to seek adequate support for.  Facilitated discussion for practicing
Steiner Kindergarten practitioners on these topics aswell as an opportunity to spend
time in artistic creativity together can be a rejuvenating and important step in fostering
teacher health and well-being, and continues teachers’ on-going professional development. Discussion covers the following main areas of a teacher's work:

Working with  -  children
                       -   parents
                       -   colleagues
                       -  teacher self-development.

STUDY GROUP - investigating the works of Rudolf Steiner

Picture

This is a small, evening discussion group which takes place on Wednesdays or Thursdays from 8.00– 9.30 pm at three weekly intervals in Bath in member's homes. The group focuses on the lectures Rudolf Steiner gave in his lifetime on a wide variety of subjects, ranging from theosphy, education and  social renewal to the life of the honey bee, to mention a few. Through reading and discussing the lectures together, our thoughts lead to a lively and provocative exchange of ideas on matters frequently not of an everyday nature.

TALKS FOR PARENTS - covering many themes relating to child development and parenting

Picture
Both evening and Saturday talks are given on a wide range of subjects tailored to suit the particular group of adult's needs. Sometimes a new initiative hoping to start a Steiner Kindergarten may want to discuss what the basic underlying principles are, or otherwise  an established school may be interested in a talk given to their parent groups on a particular topic of their choice. I am happy to discuss the possibility of running such a session on any topic related to children from birth to seven years of age. I like to introduce the relevance of working with the seasons and how they help us form a happy rhythm for our daily life.

LECTURES - for further education students

Picture
Lectures are given at Universities at an under and post-graduate level, introducing the theory and principles of Steiner education for children from birth to seven years of age. Participants will have an opportunity to experience a typical morning’s activities with singing, finger games, poetry and a storytime puppet show, aswell as perhaps an artistic activity if time allows. An overview is given in an accessible and lively way of the basic principles that define Steiner education. Leaflets with information regarding other relevant organisations; a large range of books as well as children’s work can be viewed too. Building bridges between different early years educational approaches is very important for the future well - being of children today in Britain.
